相信大家在工作和学习中都碰到过着这样的情况，

当你需要跟国外的同事或者朋友

就一些实验室方面的内容进行沟通的时候，

有些单词明明你知道长啥样，怎么拼写，

但是你却说不出口，或者说出来，却词不达意。

所以我们决定开设色谱学堂英语角这个栏目，

来跟大家一起练习怎么把实验室英语说得更好，更专业。

From now on we are going to introduce to all our friends of Chromclass,

the English words and phrases which are commonly used in laboratories.

Some of the terminology used in labs are long and difficult to pronounce.

So today we willl practise the pronunciation with you all so we can not only know it,

but also say it like a pro!

 

今天我们要练习的第一个单词就是色谱：

Chromatography

大家都知道，这是色谱的意思，那怎么说呢？

我们让Itzel给大家介绍一下。

The first word we are going to learn is Chromatography It is a long word that is often mispronounced.

We can divide it into two parts. One is chroma,

another tography.

The accent falls on the second part.

 

我们还有例句哦，

比如：色谱是现代分析实验室最常用的分离检测技术，怎么说呢？

For exp,

Chromatography is the most often used separation

and detection technique in modern analytical laboratories.

 

还有一些单词，

是从色谱这个词语演化出来的，比如色谱图。

There are words derived from chromatography,

like Chromatogram, which means the recording or the result of seperation with baselines,

peaks and often retention time and peak areas.

We should pay attention that in this word,

the accent falls on Ma, not on TO.

 

我们想说，我得到了一个特别好的色谱图，

出峰对称，基线还特别平整！可以这样说。

We could say:

I got an excellent chromatogram!

With nice symmetrical peaks and flat baseline.!

 

 

还有这个单词：色谱仪。

And

chromatograph,

which is the instruments used for the analysis.

Like Gas Chromatograph and liquid Chromatograph.

Now, Let’s do it together.

Pay special attention, the accent falls on MA.

Chromatograph. Can you do it again？

Chromatograph.

 

比如说：

这个炼油厂有很多的气相色谱仪。

There are a lot of gas chromatographs in this refinery.

 

还有色谱的形容词形式，

比如色谱条件、色谱参数等。

The adj from of chromatography is chromatographic.

Like chromatographic conditions,

chromatographic parameters, etc. Here the accent falls on Gra.

 

 

还有使用色谱仪器或者从事色谱研究的人们。

Chromatographer is the last word that we’re learn today.

Chromatographer is someone who uses this technique and equipment in their work. In this word,

we replace the y at the end with er.

Here the accent falls again on to.

 

比如：我们希望色谱学堂成为所有色谱人士的共同家园。

We could say:

we hope that Chromclass will be the family for all chromatographers around the world.
